WWF-Pakistan – Environmental NGO Website Platform Case Study

Project Overview

WWF-Pakistan’s Sustainable Infrastructure Initiative is a multi-phase program aimed at raising awareness and driving policy change around the environmental impact of infrastructure development in the Hindukush-Karakorum-Himalaya (HKH) region – one of the world’s most ecologically significant and fragile areas. Codistan contributed to this initiative by developing the digital infrastructure needed to support WWF-Pakistan’s outreach, research dissemination, and stakeholder engagement objectives.

The project required a platform that could communicate complex environmental data and policy recommendations to a diverse audience spanning government bodies, academic institutions, NGOs, and the general public. With the initiative entering Phase II – focused on consultation, dissemination, and implementation — the digital platform needed to evolve from an information repository into an active engagement tool, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders working toward shared sustainability goals.

The Challenge

Translating the complexity of environmental science and infrastructure policy into a digital experience that is both accessible and credible required careful information architecture and design thinking. The platform needed to serve audiences with vastly different technical backgrounds – from policy makers and engineers to community advocates and international donors. Maintaining scientific credibility while ensuring content remained engaging and navigable was the central design challenge. The multi-phase nature of the initiative also meant the platform needed to evolve gracefully as the program moved from research into active implementation.

Our Solution

Codistan developed a structured web platform with a layered information architecture that allows different user types to engage at their appropriate depth – from high-level summaries for general audiences to detailed technical reports for specialists. The content management system was designed to be fully manageable by WWF-Pakistan’s internal teams, enabling timely updates as research progresses. Visual storytelling elements including maps and infographics were integrated to communicate geographic and ecological data intuitively. The platform’s design reflects WWF’s global brand standards while adapting to the specific cultural needs of the Pakistani audience.
