Project Overview
Sitpicks is the digital publishing platform for Sports Information Traders (SIT News), providing up-to-the-minute coverage, analysis, and insights across all major American sporting leagues and college sports. The platform serves sports fans, analysts, and bettors who need accurate, timely content covering game scores, player profiles, and match predictions. It needed to handle high content volumes, deliver fast page loads, and present complex sports data in an accessible, engaging format.
Codistan developed the Sitpicks platform on WordPress with the Divi page builder, hosted on AWS cloud infrastructure with Nginx for performance. Google Analytics and Gravity Forms were integrated for tracking and user engagement, with Google Tag Manager managing the event tracking layer. The result is a fast, scalable sports content platform built for high-frequency publishing.

The Challenge
Sports media platforms experience highly unpredictable traffic patterns, with significant spikes during major games, playoff events, and breaking sports news. A platform that performs adequately under normal conditions can collapse under the load of a major sporting event, resulting in poor user experience at precisely the moment of highest audience value. Sitpicks needed cloud infrastructure capable of handling these spikes reliably, combined with a CMS architecture that allowed editorial teams to publish and update content rapidly without technical bottlenecks.
Our Solution
Codistan deployed Sitpicks on AWS cloud infrastructure specifically to address the scalability requirements of a sports media platform. Nginx was configured as the web server to maximise request handling efficiency, reducing the server-side bottlenecks that cause performance degradation under high traffic. Divi was implemented as the page builder, enabling the editorial team to create and publish content with flexible layouts without requiring developer involvement for each article format. Gravity Forms was integrated for reader subscription and engagement capture. Google Analytics and Tag Manager were configured to provide detailed content performance data, allowing the SIT News editorial team to understand which coverage areas drive the highest engagement and refine their publishing strategy accordingly.
